As I haven't sent you my newsletter for some months, it's time for me to start regular updates so you can keep up with recent developments and the healing ways of wheatgrass. From now on, I will do my best to send a newsletter every month. Please visit my website "Wheatgrass for Health Professionals" for a comprehensive view of the therapeutic properties of wheatgrass.
Erectile Dysfunction
A Malaysian company, INSbio recently released a product called 1E20 extracted from wheatgrass sprouts (whence my own extract is derived) and mixed with honey as a remedy for erectile dysfunction. (Read article) They claim that the reason for its "efficacy" is the high concentration of amino acids and minerals present in the mixture which improves the blood circulation.
I disagree with many rationales for the effectiveness of wheatgrass, and this is one of them. It has been known since the 1930's that wheatgrass contains powerful fertility factors as well as growth factors. Or, to put it more accurately, there is something in cereal grasses that is known to stimulate the production of growth hormone which then most likely stimulates the production of growth factors, including the hormones upon which conception depends. One could therefore reasonably expect wheatgrass to also have a positive effect on male sex hormones. In fact, having seen many women conceive after taking wheatgrass regularly, as well as reports by a number of males claiming a significant improvement in their sex lives, I think the company is on the right track - but for the wrong reasons.
But does that matter? Wheatgrass is harmless and taken daily by millions, including myself, every day. It can and does do wonders to help one achieve and maintain good health and wellbeing. So for those who are desperate to conceive, take wheatgrass - and be patient. You have nothing to lose.
I am more guarded about wheatgrass being effective for erectile dysfunction, but you never know until you've tried it. However, because positive changes in the body usually take time, one would have to persist for six months or more before deciding whether or not to stop taking it. I for one have no intention of ever stopping. It does me far too much good - and I can feel it.
Molluscum and Open Heart Surgery Doctors, Read my lips
This heart-rending story is from a very worried mum. Her 2 year old daughter was due to have open-heart surgery before Christmas. i.e. five weeks away. She had severe molluscum contagiosum on her chest, and the surgeon was not prepared to operate until the virus was cleared up. (Molluscum is a very common, highly contagious but harmless viral infection affecting mainly young children that usually disappears spontaneously within a year or two, but is notroriously difficult to treat). She was referred to a dermatologist who proceeded to apply a wart paint to all the spots. Unfortunately, the child suffered excruciating pain when the skin broke down where the paint had been applied. Naturally mother was desperate
One wonders what must have been going on in the dermatologist's mind as he would have known that wart paint, in fact most remedies, simply don't work for molluscum. But this is where wheatgrass comes in. I and many other therapists have not had a treatment failure using my wheatgrass extract for molluscum. Usually it takes around six to eight weeks, but it almost invariably works. I'm happy to say mother is now using the extract, and I'm almost certain the surgeons will be able to operate soon - but not before Christmas!
